Affiliate marketing program is the best method of promoting a product or company in internet. It is a revenue sharing program between site owner (affiliate) and a company (online merchant). Through affiliate internet marketing, the web site owner can select the products that related to his site and place ads on his site. The company may gain from a sale or receive customers to their website by an affiliate link. The site owner and company will share the profit or the site owner receives some commission.
There are three types of affiliates programs:
- Pay-per-sale: A commission amount is deposited into affiliate's account when a sale is made through affiliate’s link.
- Pay-per-lead: When a customer registers at the online merchant’s site through affiliate’s link, certain amount is deposited to affiliate’s account.
- Pay-per-click: Every time a customer visits online merchant’s site through affiliate’s link, a little money is deposited into affiliate’s account. Usually this type makes lower income and hard to reach payout limit.
Online merchants are interested to place their ads into affiliate’s website, because, it gets more exposure to their product globally. They have to pay the affiliates only when a sale is made through. The advertisement can be banners or text link. In most cases the online merchant will not place their ads directly into affiliate's websites, for this purpose few companies are providing middle-man service to connect online merchant and site owner. Yes, affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online. Actually, I think it’s probably the best.
When starting out, my advice would be to promote programs that have very wide appeal, such as survey and dating sites. Also, it’s best to go for the “pay per lead” programs, since these are easier to succeed with. For someone to become a lead, they don’t actually have to pay anything. They just have to put their details into a form. There are just more people who do this.
If you get a few leads, even if they’re only making you a dollar each, your confidence increases. That keeps you motivated.

The best is if you can get payments for the lifetime of the customer that you send to a merchant each time they go back and purchase somthing again.
